I don't know if it is everyone, but I have the feeling we're not making much forward progress in Ceilometer. Instead of really cranking on solving the problems we're applying improvements here and there. This is good, but it has the feeling of a rearguard action, not an offensive maneuver.
Part of this comes down to a split between working on keeping v2 healthy while also working on v3. v3 is not moving forward as fast as one would expect if it is planned for a Kilo release.
Part of it is just that Ceilometer is not cool, it lacks hype and drive.
Part of it is that the actions and conversations of the Ceilometer team are not visible
Part of it is that during productization time, it's just going to feel this way.
Part of it is that we couldn't generate oomph to have enough people for a mid-cycle.
Part of it is that people express doubt about what Ceilometer is for and whether it is good enough for whatever that job is.
Part of it: Where's the users at? Who is driving this thing?
I think we need to try to make it a bit more cool. Some of that is being audacious like SpeculativeCeiloArch. Some of that is simply being noisy. Some of that is trying harder to get the active participants aligned and more narrowly focused.
