Severe Unilateral Pain - brief abrupt electric shocks
pain evoked by light touch (washing, shaving, smoking, talking, brushing teeth) and may occur spontaneously
trigger areas can exist (particularly susceptible to precipitate pain - nasolabial fold or chin
remit for variable periods

Mostly idiopathic but sometimes compression of roots by tumour or vascular problems
