Features
Sore throat, LN, pyrexia
malaise, headache, anorexia
palatal petechiae
splenomegaly (50% - rarely spenic rupture), hepatitis
50% lymphocytes (at least 10% atypical)
haemolytic anaemia (2ndary to cold agglutinins IgM)
maculopapular pruritic rash in 99% of those who take amoxil/ ampicillin

Diagnosis - heterophil antibody test (monospot)

Mx
supportive - fluids, rest, no alcohol, simple analgesia
no contact sports for 8/52 (consensus in UK)
