Blue Oxen Associates was a research organization exploring high-performance collaboration using the work of Doug Engelbart as a starting point. It was founded in 2002 by Eugene Kim and Chris Dent. The group is now defunct but left behind a lot of good ideas.
In the early days they were primarily focused in three areas:
- Creating PurpleWiki and other Purple Numbers related tools.
- Hosting so-called collaboratories: discussion groups exploring ways to improve collaboration.
- Formalizing tools for analyzing and encouraging collaboration.
Later the learnings were applied to consulting and facilitation.
